Haha! Good business skills! Unfortunately the money doesn’t actually go into our pockets but we use it to promote science so it wouldn’t be mine to give away!

Interesting suggestion, but I’m afraid I found a better offer on comparethemeerkat.com

Bribery and corruption on ‘I’m a Scientist…’? Scandalous! That would never do!

But your question raises an important issue, as financial interests can affect research. For example, there are many cases where scientists have developed products via their research that make them a lot of money commercially, for example a drug or a piece of software. In order to keep selling the product, the scientist could be tempted to make sure that their research always produces results that support their product as the best available, which could lead to biased research. For this reason, research journals ask scientists to declare ‘competing financial interests’.

So, if I promised you money in return for votes and I won, it wouldn’t be clear whether I won fairly, or just because of the bribe. Bad science!!
