Yes, I think it’s likely. The beginning of life was a combination of many factors that just worked on Earth, and there are hundreds of billions of galaxies that the probability of some of other life having evolved there is definitely not zero!
As they said in the film Contact:
Young Ellie: Dad, do you think there’s people on other planets?
Ted Arroway: I don’t know, Sparks. But I guess I’d say if it is just us… seems like an awful waste of space. 🙂

I’d be shocked if there wasn’t life on other planets. I’m even willing to go out on a limb and suggest that we’ll probably find life within our solar system. The fact that we’re finding water on other solar objects like the moon and mars means there is a chance that some form of life can be found there. I think the odds may be better for finding life on some of the more distant moons like Io or Calypso, but I bet we do find it eventually. It’ll probably be bacterial, if it exists, but finding it anywhere would be awesome because it would force us to rethink our incredibly self-centered view that somehow our planet is unique in the entire universe. IMHO.

Its a very big universe, so I would be astounded if there was not some sort of life out there somewhere. In fact the universe is so big that it would not surprise me if “intelligent” life (like us) had evolved somewhere else. Unfortunatly, the chances of the bumping into us are not very high…

Yes I do. There are lots of single-cell organisms on Earth that can survive in quite extreme conditions, like really high temperatures, so I reckon there must be at least some simple bacteria on other planets…
