hi kimmy. wow. that’s a tough one as i have been lucky to get along very well over the years without any bad experiences really.
to be honest, i don’t think there have been any bad *incidents* to speak of. the main thing that gets me down about work from time to time is the fact that things happen quite slowly in research. this means that i’m rarely frantically busy and stressed out, but it also means that in this kind of job you have to wait around a little longer for the big rewards, like getting your paper published in a journal. so, sometimes i get a little down about whether i’m doing well enough and if i’ll be able to progress in the field as far as i want to. i think it’s important to have patience and remember all the reasons why i love what i do, and that spurs me on. taking part in ‘i’m a scientist’ has been great in that respect as all your questions have reminded me of why i love what i do so much, and why i want to keep doing it!
