Hi there! MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging. It uses a giant magnet (in the shape of a doughnut, so that a person can be positioned in the middle bit) and through some fancy physics it allows to visualise the soft tissues of the body (such as the brain). It’s an extremely useful technique for research studies and clinical tests relating to neurology, and cancer prevention/detection.
